Weekly Update....
I had my appt a bit early this week at the high risk OB. We got to see Jack in 3D again (see gallery). We had a full growth scan this week. Jack is in the 53rd percentile and they said that he's average size for his age. I was very pleased with this because I haven't been able to eat very well because of the pain (gallstone) so I was really worried that he wasn't getting enough nutrition. His abdomen and stomach measured around 20th percentile but his bones were long so I think he'll be tall and it's just the CDH causing his abdomen to seem small because of the organs moving into the chest. The doctor seemed pleased with his size though. We saw him practicing his breathing again AND his liver is down. He was breech again too. I hope he stays that way!
The only not so great news was that the levels of amniotic fluid jumped in 5 days from 22cm to 28cm today! 24 cm is the point where you're considered to have polyhydramnios so I guess we're adding that to our medical freak show list but the doctor we saw today (not Kramer) said that even though the level was high everything looked OK. If I get into the 30's then we'll have to do a fluid reduction which is basically an amnio. Dr. Kramer made it sound like 24 was a critical # but this doctor didn't seem too worried yet. I'll see Dr. Kramer next week and I'll see what he says. As for the gallbladder...we're just taking a wait and see approach. They told me no fat and eat small, high calorie foods like protein bars so I get enough nutrition for Jack. The pain has been pretty bad but I'm still going to work so I'm somewhat functional. They want to wait until after Jack is born to remove the gallbladder. Overall, I guess we're holding our own. The cute pictures of Jack make me forget all the discomfort. I think he has long fingers like me.
Well, that's it for this week. Oh yeah...the neonatologists from Hopkins called today. They wanted to know the due date to start preparing.
Love
Vic
