We had our ultrasound at Johns Hopkins and appt with a senior High Risk OB today. It was unbelievable how thorough they were with the ultrasound (1h 15 min!). We had 3 different people come in including the head sonographer and another high risk OB. Jack is still breech and he has A LOT of hair! We also are now calling him Charlie Brown b/c his head seems to be measuring big. Hopefully he won't come out looking like a bobble head...a very hairy bobble head. They spent a lot of time using the Doppler to track various blood vessels. They found that the left and medial liver arteries are in his chest which makes us sure his liver is indeed up. I guess I was hoping Dr. Kramer was wrong the past 2 weeks but we're sure now. We didn't really see much lung tissue but there is a chance that it was 'hiding' because he has a lot of bowel and other organs in his chest.
They also found another abnormal finding, this time with his umbilical cord. When they tracked the blood flow they said the resistance was high. This could indicate a problem with the cord and/or placenta. Now we will have to be seen twice per week and have non-stress tests where they put belt-like monitors on my belly to check for contractions and Jack's heartbeat. This is to check for fetal distress. They will also do ultrasounds twice a week to check the cord bloodflow with Doppler. At least I feel good knowing that they will keep a close eye on Jack.
As for the date of his debut...your guess is as good as mine. They said the preference is induction with natural delivery at 39 weeks. If Jack stays breech we'll schedule a C-section around 39 weeks. Again, they will keep an eye on me and Jack and if there is any sign of distress then we'll go early. My gut feeling is that I'll wind up with a C-section because he's breech. I'm not taking childbirth classes so I hope that's what happens. If we have a regular delivery I'm sure they'll tell me what to do. One way or another this little guy is coming out and I'm serving him his eviction notice by the 39th week!
There are 2 new 3D pictures in the gallery. We have an appt with Dr. Kramer this Friday. I'll post more news if there's anything interesting or new photos.
Love
