I have really been slacking with updates lately. This past week was a bit chaotic since my mom returned to CT and it was the first time Jack and I were on our own during the day for a long time. We were trying to re-establish a routine and it seems like we must've spoiled him with lots of attention when my mom was here because he constantly wants to be held and played with. As a consequence I've been up late at night trying to catch up on my work. Looks like I'll be doing a lot of that this weekend too.
Jack is doing great. I think he's about to cut more teeth because he's showing lots of signs of teething again including "GI-issues" if you know what I mean. He is still so happy despite all that. His weight has been a little concerning to me lately. He seems to be gaining weight VERY slowly lately and is stalled out around 15 pounds 3 oz. I think it's because he's getting more active, as you can see from the video below. He is trying so hard to crawl! I think that might come soon. This week he ate his first finger food - a Gerber cookie. He absolutely loved it and made a HUGE mess. It was great fun. He also said "DaDa" yesterday! I'm pretty sure I saw James' chest puff out when Jack said it! His vocabulary now consists of MaMa, DaDa and Up (he says that when we lift him up). I think he really understands Up but is still saying MaMa and DaDa without a complete understanding of who is who. We get excited though, nonetheless.
Jack is also getting really excited when James comes home from work. He kicks, smiles and claps his hands. It's adorable. In the photo below you can see how he likes to touch James face when he gets home. James is getting so excited to have the whole summer with Jack (he's a teacher so he has the summer off). I'll return to lab in June.
Hope you are all well and enjoying the warm weather. We are opening our pool today! I can't wait until we can take Jack in. He's going to love it!
