First Day Back At Lab

Today was my first day physically back at work. I've been working full time from home for the past year but today I actually went into the office/lab. I thought I might start freaking out but I actually did really well. It was nice to keep work at work and focus 100% on James and Jack when I came home. For the past year I constantly felt like I had to keep working whenever I had time at home because I didn't want anyone to think I was slacking off. It was great to be able to focus on my work for HOURS at a time today. I missed Jack a lot but James called me with updates. I was a little jealous when he told me that they went swimming for 45 minutes today but it was so awesome to hear Jack laughing in the background. When I came home they were both pretty pooped but looked so happy. I'm so glad James is a teacher and can have the summers off to spend time with Jack.

James got Jack to eat a lot today which is a good thing because for the first time he lost weight over the past week. It was only 2 ounces but that's enough to make me nervous. James already figured out some new tricks so hopefully he'll fatten Jack up a bit. It was really funny because with all the teething Jack has had trouble in the pooping department. James called to tell me that everything was fine and Jack must've been storing it up for his first day alone with Dad and had 3 dirty diapers...as James called them Mega Poopers. He thinks I bribed Jack to do it...haha.

Not much else is new. We are trying to coordinate getting Jack that 24 hr holter (heart) monitor so his cardiologist can figure out what's going on. I also had to call the pediatrician's office today because Jack has been having rashes when he eats certain foods. We can't figure it out. We gave him small tastes of cooked chocolate pudding, Carvel cake, a soft ice cream cone, a strawberry and pastina with some butter in it. With all these things he developed a bright red rash around his mouth and hives on his face and throat. If he touched his mouth then another part of his face it spreads. I don't think it's a milk allergy because he takes Nestle Goodstart Supreme which has milk proteins in it. His pediatrician is out this week and I didn't want anyone else from the practice to see Jack so next week we'll find out how to proceed. Until then he won't be getting any more tastes of our food. We'll stick to his Gerber stuff!
