Jack had his 12 month checkup today. I have to say that we have THE best pediatrician. He just loves Jack and really understands all he went through and is on the ball about appropriate follow up and seems to remember every single thing we discussed in prior appts, even when I don't.
Jack is doing really well. He weighs 18 pounds 2 ounces and is 30 inches long. Overall he is 50th percentile for height, 90th percentile for head size and just below 3rd percentile for weight. He received 4 shots today and after a quick sob he immediately stopped crying when I held him. What a brave kid!
The only thing of concern that came up was that he seems to have developed a curvature of his spine so we have to see a pediatric orthopedic doc. I noticed that Jack looked asymmetrical from the front. His 'bulge' seems more prominent on the left. I was worried because it did that last time he reherniated but he's not showing any other symptoms of reherniation. When I held him he felt different and I thought he developed scoliosis. I am glad that so many other CDH moms warned me about this so I was able to keep a close eye on Jack's spine. I'm not sure what will come of the orthopedic appt. I will try to get in with someone at Hopkins. I also want to ask his surgeon if it's a concern with his patch. I REALLY hope not.
Finally, Jack now likes to dance. He plays with his toys until music starts and then starts to shake his upper body and arms, shake his head and clap hands. It's SOOO cute! I have to try and get it on video.

I'm glad that he had a good checkup and was brave during his shots (I guess there were no bees in the room this time?). That's so funny that he has started to dance -- please post a video!
I hate that his spine is curving and am interested to see what his orthopedic doc says. Claire's spine is curving to the right and her bottom rib pokes out a bit on her left side.
