It's been an interesting week here since the allergist appt. On Tues Jack woke up with a snotty nose (the nasty yellow stuff that's never a good sign). He was sneezing and coughing too. After an hour or so it turned to clear snot and we figured he was improving. Yesterday he wasn't feeling well and over the course of a few hours he started breathing funny and I could feel the congestion in his chest with my hand. We took him to the pediatrician and he said it was the croup and Jack was given an albuterol breathing treatment (nebulizer face mask thing) and a dose of prednisone. By 8pm it seemed worse so we went back and he got another breathing treatment and we went home with a nebulizer and instructions to give him treatments every 4 hrs. He actually slept well most of the night and did well today. It amazes me how he can cope so well when he is sick. He was playing and laughing despite the wheezing.
I took Jack to the pulmonologist this morning and he examined Jack and said it's not the croup - just a cold. I guess for Jack the cold goes to his weakest part (the lungs). The great news is that his oxygen saturation was still 100%. I was told to only give the breathing treatments as needed and I can discontinue to prednisone after Saturday. Throughout the day Jack seemed happy and was breathing much better. I did give a treatment around 6pm. I have the feeling it gets a little worse towards evening.
This was his first real cold - ever. We lived in fear of this happening because we didn't know how his lungs would manage. So far, so good (knock wood!).

Jack sure did a good job of shredding that paper in the doctor's office :-)
I'm glad that he is handling the cold okay so far and hope he gets better soon.
I'm glad too, I hope he feels better soon.
I hope he feels better soon and doesn't share. They like to do that too.
He is quick - and yes it is trouble - once they walk - well boys don't walk. They run, skip, hop, jump and glide - there is no walking after about a month of walking! (Just a warning there!)
