Getting back into the routine

Well, we are back in Maryland after a great week in New England. It feels a little lonely around here without our families but everyone got webcams for Christmas so we've been on Skype a lot. Jack gets so excited when he sees everyone! He even tried to hug my dad through the computer!

This week we have a lot going on medical-wise. We have a clinic appt on Tues with Jack's surgeon. James and I have become increasingly concerned because he's been throwing up a lot the past 1-2 months. We had originally assumed that it was because he had a few colds and was a little more gaggy then normal but the colds cleared and the vomiting didn't. He also makes this weird sound "GULK GULK GULK" when he swallows. I thought he might be refluxing because I smelled sour milk a few times and even saw milk coming into his mouth twice. His surgeon had us restart Prevacid on Friday. Jack has been off all medicines since April or May. I think that reflux is definitely part of the problem because the Prevacid is obviously helping him. I just wonder why he should be refluxing again after being OK for so long? Last time he reherniated he threw up a lot. It's not nearly as bad this time because he still will take his bottle. He's also coughing a lot but no runny nose etc.

We also have his cardiology followup on Wed at Johns Hopkins. I think they'll do an echocardiogram in the office then send us home with a 24 hour holter monitor. Jack had frequent premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). This is the followup to see if it's getting better with time. Keep your fingers crossed that it's getting better and that we can actually keep the monitor on him for the full 24 hrs. He's much more mobile and curious then the last time he had to wear the holter!

Glad you all had a nice holidays! Skype is great! We love it and Marco shows all his toys and new things to everyone. His new thing is to put all the toys on the screen :)
Will be thinking of you guys this week and good luck with the appts. Marco's reflux also comes and goes, sometimes I have seen it increase when he is teething as he has more saliva and sometimes that made it aggrevate the reflux.
Hope all goes well and keep us posted!
Hugs and hopefully next time you are in New England we can meet!
Ana and Marco

Hopefully it is just reflux (and not reherniation) and they can make it better with meds. And maybe since he did so well with the nebulizer he will do okay with the holter.
