What a week! I want MY mom :-)

This has been one of those weeks when I really wish we didn't live so far from our families. Jack had a stomach bug since last Sunday then I got it and was really sick all week. On Tuesday Jack also started with a cold. At first I assumed it was his molars making his nose run but it quickly moved to his chest. By Wed night we had to take him to the pediatrician. You could feel rattles in his lower lobes of his lungs, especially on the right lung. They gave him a nebulizer treatment - Xopenex. They decided that the albuterol was not good for his heart and the xopenex would be a bit better. They were concerned he might have pneumonia so they sent us to Frederick Memorial Hospital for a chest xray. Thankfully, it was clear. By Thursday I hit a wall with the stomach flu and was so dehydrated I had a whooper of a headache, couldn't stop being sick and was shaking and had stomach cramps. My doctor sent me to the ER. They gave me fluids and Reglan which helped a lot. They did bloodwork and found my potassium levels were really low which was causing PVCs - I had complained of fluttering feelings in my chest. It was really an aweful day. By yesterday James came down with the stomach flu and Jack is still sick. We saw the pediatrician Friday and he feels that Jack has bronchiolitis that may be caused by RSV but he wouldn't test for it. I guess since Jack gets Synagis shots (RSV antibodies) it gives him some protection. If he gets any worse I'm taking him back tomorrow. He seems to be breathing a bit fast. On a good note, Jack is a very good boy when it comes to his nebulizer treatments (we give them every 4 hrs). We don't even have to hold the mask. We just pop in his ELMO tape and he's a happy guy. It's actually funny because Jack is sick and still wants to play and James and I are totally wiped out. Must be an age thing. At any rate, I hope we're all well for the ECMO party this Thursday.

Here's a video of Jack getting his treatment. Maybe all kids tolerate treatments this well but it just amazes me.

Wow, I hope you all feel better soon! I can't believe how still Jack is during his nebulizer treatments. I think Claire would probably rip that thing off her face in two seconds.

Got it here too! It has been a lovely few weeks! I am glad you are all feeling better - but sorry your house went through it all! Jack is such a good boy!

Distraction works very well with boys too!
