Jack had his 18 month (now almost 19 month) checkup with the pediatrician today. He's 10% for weight, 50% for height and a whooping 90% for head circumference. He's been hitting his solids big time. He loves chicken nuggets, hot dogs and cinnamon toast with maple syrup. Everything seems to be going well with him. His pediatrician wants him to follow up with his allergist soon and get totally off his bottle and at least take formula from his sippy cup. Jack loves water from the sippy cup but won't drink formula from it. Strange! The only additional thing we have to do is get in touch with Infants and Toddlers to get a speech evaluation. At Jack's 15 month checkup he had 10 words he would say. For the past 2 months he has regressed and doesn't really want to talk much at all. He certainly knows what we're saying though! He can pick things out from flash cards, go get specific toys and stuff but he just won't talk. The doctor said that sometimes this is normal and he might just decide to start talking like crazy one day soon but since we are already in the Infants and Toddlers program we should go ahead and cover our bases. Jack cooperated for the whole exam but protested over his 2 shots. The doc gave him the Hib (hemophillus influenza B) shot even though there's a shortage because he considers Jack high risk of complications if he actually got sick.
Finally, here's some video we took tonight. My mom bought Jack this set of pop-up club houses with tubes that can connect them. They're so big we only keep 2 out in his play area. He loves to hide in there. When my parents were here they actually got inside and hid there so Jack could find them. Talk about a missed photo opportunity! Haha!
