Jack visits the Firehouse

Anyone who knows Jack knows that he LOVES Elmo and his all time favorite Elmo DVD is "Elmo Visits the Firehouse". Today James and I took the kids to the Frederick Street Festival. They closed off Market Street for the entire length of downtown. All the restaurants had tents and sold food, there were musicians (see video of Jack dancing), kids craft areas and just tons of cool things to see. At the end of the street is the downtown firehouse. They had 2 of their engines parked outside and the firefighters were there to talk to the kids. They gave out red firefighter hats and coloring books. I held Jack and told him took him to meet the firefighters. His eyes nearly bugged out of his head! They asked his name and then told him about the firehouse. I told them about his obsession with the Elmo DVD and, of course, they were familiar with it. They invited Jack in to see the inside of the house. As you can see from the pics and video, they let him sit in the driver's seat and steer. He went totally nuts and had a blast!! He also sat in the back with one of the firefighters. He ran around the firehouse and had to touch EVERY truck. He even tried to trade his plastic red hat for the real thing but he couldn't lift it! Ha Ha! It was so much fun to watch him enjoy and explore.

Both kids are doing well. Anika is showing some more signs of reflux. I spoke to her GI doc at Hopkins and he said that what I described actually sounds like classic allergy. I guess kids improve with medication but after a few weeks it kicks back up. If that's true then she is allergic to milk and soy. Ugh. Rather than start switching formulas again we are going to first try increasing her dose of prevacid. She is gaining weight quickly so she could just be out growing her dose. I really hope that is it. The doc did say that reflux is the worst during months 3-6 so we haven't seen the worst of it yet.
