What a good boy!

James and I brought Jack to the pediatric cardiology clinic at Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center today to get his holter (heart) monitor. He had a lot of fun smiling and waving at everyone that would make eye contact with him (and some that didn't). The holter is actually much smaller then I thought. It has 7 leads that are stuck to Jack's chest. It was a little tricky getting them on around his pectus. They also wrapped his chest with a blue semi-sticky bandage to hold the electrodes on his chest.

Jack didn't fuss at all. It amazes me because for a baby that has been through as much as Jack has it astounds me that he is so forgiving and doesn't mind people poking at him. He's so good! The only difficulty is that if an electrode comes off it will ruin the whole read and we need to start over. He has to wear the holter for 24 hrs. As you can see in the pictures below the leads are all fun and bright colors. They just scream, "Touch and pull me! Heck, put me in your mouth!" We've been having to watch Jack like a hawk. He's freakishly fast and clever. It's funny because you can totally see the devilish grin a few seconds before he goes for the wires.

Tomorrow we'll return to Hopkins to turn in the holter and also attend a NICU party. I think it will be a week or so until the cardiologist analyzes the data from the holter. We're a little nervous because we went to the allergist thinking there was no way he had allergies and then it turned out that he's allergic to quite a few things. We were assuming the cardiology followup was overkill and he's totally fine but now I'm nervous. I really don't know much about cardiac issues so it's probably just fear of the unknown.

Let's hope the next 20 hrs goes by uneventfully and the results are all good!
