This was the last time Cheryl held Jack in the JHH NICU (before he was transfered to Frederick's NICU)

This is Cheryl holding Jack today!

Yes, someone is still into the nose picking!

Wyatt and Jack attended their first Johns Hopkins Hospital NICU graduates party today! James and I took Jack (after dropping off the holter monitor) and we met Gina and Wyatt there. The boys got their official diplomas and beach balls! We saw Dr. Aucott and Dr. Peyton - 2 of the neonatologists; Jan the social worker; and a bunch of the NICU nurses. James, Jack and I were especially excited when Jack's primary nurse, Cheryl, found us. What a wonderful reunion! To see Cheryl was just amazing. It was like seeing an old friend and at the same time very emotional. I'm glad she didn't get emotional because it would've been enough for me to start crying too. Cheryl was Jack's primary nurse the day he was born, the day he got moved back to the NICU after surgery & ECMO and she had him every time she was in. I can only imagine what army buddies feel like when they've gone through something traumatic but also incredibly bonding together. That's how James and I feel about Cheryl. She was definitely one of Jack's guardian angels!
Wyatt and Jack were also really excited to see each other today. They were reaching out to touch each other and seemed to really like looking at each other. After all this time Gina pointed out another scar that Wyatt and Jack have in common on their right legs where they had their central lines inserted. Those two boys are really like long lost brothers!
It was a great experience to see everyone under happy circumstances. I was amazed at how much the docs, nurses and staff remembered about Jack. I guess I assumed with all the babies that go through the NICU they would blend together. One doc remembered conversations we had about Jack's meds, long term prognosis, etc. That's the difference with Hopkins. These guys are incredible when it comes to the medicine but they really care about the kids and the families.
Above are a few photos. Our camera battery died after 5 minutes but Gina let me use hers to take photos. As soon as I get them I'll post them here. I'm sure she'll also post them on Wyatt's blog. Below is a video of Jack and James. Wyatt brought Jack his birthday card and present from him and Chloe. I was going to wait until Jack's birthday but then I peeked and saw what it was and I couldn't resist! Jack absolutely LOVES this toy. I told James he should take it in the car so he can beep his horn along with Daddy! HAHA!

That's so cool that they had a party for them. I love the pictures -- Jack looks so little in that one where Cheryl is holding him in the NICU.
