This post is a little late because we just got back from NY but Jack had a fantastic birthday! We actually celebrated all week! He went to the Dutchess County Fair in New York. My parents took my brothers and I almost every year when we were kids. Jack actually broke my dad's 25 year consecutive streak last year when he was born so this was the start of a new round of tradition at the fair. He really had a blast seeing all the sights. He was more interested in people watching then looking at the animals. He absolutely loved the ride and game area with all the lights and sounds!
On his actual birthday we celebrated with my parents and Uncle Len. On Saturday we had a party and family and friends came from as far away as 3 hrs to help us celebrate. If you count my cousins who got stuck in traffic it was really a 5 hr trip!
I think that a first birthday is always a big deal for any child but I have to say it was a very emotional and extra special day for us to celebrate with Jack. There were days right after he was born when we wondered if he would ever see his first birthday. My dad and I looked back at the CarePage entries from a year ago and it sure was a different time then! Jack has come so far and is doing so great now. To see him today you'd never know he had such a rough start in life. It makes us all realize how fortunate we are.
Below is a montage with a video clip first (watch Jack ham it up when we sing to him) and then a bunch of photos from his party, the fair and this past week. Sorry that they aren't in better order but it's really late and if I don't get this up tonight I think my brothers will kill me :-)
Thanks to you all again for your thoughts, prayers and wishes for Jack from when he was born until today. It means so much to us and I know it helped him get through the rough days so we could enjoy days like this past week!
Love
Vic

Wonderful pictures Vic! I just uploaded mine- check out my set on Flickr. I'm so glad we could make it, and I'm sorry we didn't get to see more of you!
Great montage - looks like a fun celebration! I LOVE Jack waving at the end of "Happy Birthday". He can work it! And all that flashing of cupcakes and ice cream has really made me hungry. I think I'll be baking cupcakes tomorrow!

My nephew Jack also was a Tractor fan! Not kidding - my parents also had a farm and he loved going to ride on the Tractor!
He is absolutely adorable - will you ever be able to say no? I couldn't!
