Now I understand my mother....

When I was a kid, and sometimes even til this day, I will try to get my mom's attention..."Ma, ma MA!" she'll eventually turn around with a look like, "Oh, did you say something?" I always thought she was either deaf or crazy. How could you NOT hear your kid calling? Well, now I get it. When I'm around, Jack will start with a cute, "Mama", soon to be followed by, "Ma ma ma" and then it eventually morphs into "MA MA MA MA MA MA MAMA MAMA MAMA MA MA MA....". If I don't pay attention he gradually gets louder until he's laughing and yelling MAMA. It's so strange, I don't even hear it. It's like it's a frequency that my ears just don't tune in to. BUT, if he is sad or hurt and says, "Mama" it's like his mouth is frowning and changing the sound and I hear that. Is this some sort of right of passage to motherhood that no one told me about?

I'm trying to get Jack to start saying "DADA DADA DADA DADA.........."

:-)

Claire will ONLY say Dada and sometimes even Daddy. She will not say Mama for anything. When we try to get her to say Mama she says Dada instead and then smiles a mischievous grin.

Or you soon want to change your name ;-). I know exactly what you mean and what is more insane is when your mother's words come out of your mouth.
