Jack had a great time in NY, despite his impetigo. The antibiotic stopped the infection in its tracks and everything is now dried up. The worst part is actually the impact of the medicine on his belly and subsequently, his poop. He also managed to spread the coodies to my mom, who had poison ivy and open wounds. She's now on medicine too and on the mend.
Below is a montage with video then photos from Jack & Anika's trip with me, Pa, MiMi and Uncle Len to the Dutchess Co. Fair in Rhinebeck, NY. This is Jack's 2nd consecutive fair and Anika's first. My dad had a long streak going (15 yrs?) that was only broken the year Jack was born and on ECMO. Every year he gets a wooden plaque that is dated. You can see a picture with Anika holding the plaque from this year. My dad hung all of his previous ones in the barn. There is a picture of Jack in the spot for the 2007 plaque to remind us of why we missed the fair that year! Jack really enjoyed the fair this year, especially the cows, pigs and roosters. I also took him on his first kiddy ride. He went nuts playing with the steering wheel and beeping the horn! That was my favorite part of the fair.
The next day he went to ride a real train with Pa and Uncle Len. The 3 of them had a great time. I think the train ride was 40 minutes each way. They said Jack was swaying with the train and loved the horn. He was good the whole time.

Love it! Jack sure loves trains doesn't he! You need to take him on the Durango to Silverton Steam Engine train trip out in Colorado. I believe it's three hours each way through the mountain passes from Durango CO. to Silverton CO.-- we went in 2006 and it was awesome! Jack would love it!
Anika is growing big!
