I don't know why but whenever I see something weird with Jack I document it. Maybe it's the scientist in me making sure all the data is collected? Anyway, when he got his first blister a week ago, something told me to take a picture. As it grew worse, I kept taking photos. Some are from my cell phone so they're not very good, but you can certainly appreciate how this infection grew over time. I think I learned from Jack's NICU days that sometimes you don't realize how bad something is until you go back and see pictures of it or have some frame of reference (no pun intended!). So, for those of you who've been following his saga of "Jack's Mystery Diagnosis"....the verdict is impetigo and he's being treated with augmentin (250mg/5ml dose; twice a day). Here are the nasty pictures. The blisters form and grow so fast you can almost see the bacteria replicating (at least I can imagine it)!

Today, Aug 24th (Monday and 1 week from when the first blister appeared)

...and now that you're probably totally grossed out....here are some nice pictures from the past month. I've been meaning to post them for a long time!

I had impetigo as a child. I was 5 and still remember the experience. It happened over the Christmas holiday. Thankfully it looks terrible but is usually pretty easy to manage once diagnosed and treated. Give Jack a hug from all of us.
Oh Vicki, Jack is going to get you for posting those pics of his cooties and his bum when he's older! Glad to hear that he's been diagnosed and getting treated...that must be quite uncomfortable!
Grody! But kind of cool at the same time... I like your scientific propensities!
